OK, I was blissfully ignorant of this '92 Honda CB750 RC42 model. Apparently Euro- only, but on eBay in NY. Anyone want to shed some light on it or just opine?

Here are a few pix should the auction go away.

had the hots for this 900 yesterday until i researched it and found it slings rods and jumps out of gear . the 1st is the result of the 2nd so we must do our homework on these older Honda's

Don't remember that one, but a lot of the Euro and Asian bikes we are never exposed to. Looks like an updated 750 Nighthawk and maybe made to compete against the Kawasaki Zephyr series
My friend that owns the Honda Yamaha shop has a reference book from Honda that shows every bike they have ever made what years etc. I have looked thru it and you wouldn't believe all the cool bikes Honda has made for different markets. Truly astonishing. Would love to have one of those books. He has promised me his if he ever gets a new one.

Good eye, Ferret. The RC42 was the Euro/Japan version of the U.S. '91-'03 Nighthawk 750 (model RC38). The Nighthawk was designed as a price point bike for the U.S. market. Honda took that bike and spiffed up the bodywork, brakes and suspension for the less price conscious Euro/Japan market. It was available in the Japanese domestic market until '08.
Most of the RC42 is the same as the RC38, except for some differences in the rear subframe (which makes the bodywork incompatible with the U.S. bikes). I actually have a fancy H&B crash bar that was designed for the RC42 on my Nighthawk. In the Euro market, the bike was known as the CB Seven-Fifty or the CB750F2 in Japan.
I've got a pic of the Japanese '08 model somewhere. Here it is :
Also came in a classic RWB scheme in '07
