Anyone running Pirelli Scorpion STR on the CB, or any other semi knobbie?
#1
Wet days are coming to my area and as I often get off the beaten path along my usual route I wanted to switch to something with at least a bit of wet dirt and mud grip. Of course I don't want a full-time knobbie because I still spend a lot of time on the road and in traffic, and there is a good offer on the Scorpion STR at my friend's shop, any experience anyone may have with this setup on the CB1100 is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Tod, I can't remember which knobbie folks have used, but at least two members have put them on their CB1100s in the past. Here's one; I'll keep looking for the other. http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....5#pid96365

Another reference in the same thread, http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....#pid171354

Finally the other one I was thinking of, http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....6#pid78416

My NTM Suzi V-Strom 1000 has what the PO called 'adventure' tires. Not really knobbers, but I can see how they'd work on trails, but the bike is too heavy to be a real offroad machine.

i'm riding on a new set of str tires,
but the tires aren't on my dlx ; they're stock tires on my new tenere 700.

i'm quite impressed w/ this tire both on street and dirt.
on light duty mud puddles the str still maintains traction....as long as the throttle is applied smoothly & cautiously of course.

Ive been thinking about my next set of tires for my dlx to be some type of adv tire because i have a couple of mild 4wd dirt trail sections that I can loop into my hill country street ride. I have a fresh set of TKC 80 sitting around to use on my DLX when the time comes,
but I can easily see myself going w/ the str tires instead as i think the str has newer technology designed into the compound (silica?) which grips better and lasts longer than tires from last decades.
