My SRX250 Project
About 10 years ago I purchased this bike to restore for my daughter but she ended up buying an XT250 as she likes the off road better. So late last year I pulled it out of the shed and started the restore. I purchased the bike as a non runner and managed to find a donor basket case. After much powdercoating, plating, polishing and painting it is nearly ready for a start up. The engine has fairly high mileage for a tiny bike and due to the unavailability of finding an oversize piston I just went for a new set of rings. All the wiring plugs have been replaced and the harness cleaned of the overspray paint from the P.O. New starter clutch, brake master and hydraulic line, carbs cleaned( yes it has 2)and lots of new bolts and screws. I had the cylinder head valve seats and valves cleaned up as they had developed some rust patialy due to the removal of the original airbox . In place of it was some gastly pod filters that looked like they came off an air compressor. They obviously didnt work very well as the P.O had punched holes in the end of them which negated and filtering. Just some foot controls and the exhaust to go now and then to get it out of the house for a start up.
