Today grandson Riley got his first new new motorcycle, a Yamaha TT 50. He's had a used TT 50 since he was 5. Rode it with training wheels. Now Riley is 7 and handed the used one down to his younger brother Tanner who just turned 5. No more training wheels for Riley!
4th generation of our family to ride Yamaha's in the last 48 years.
Their great grandfather (my father) rode a 1972 R-5C at one point as he got older
Their grandfather (me) rides an FJR
Their father (my son) rides an MT-10
and the two boys both ride TT-50's.

This is fabulous!
I must admit I’m very jealous of these kids. I would have given my right you-know-what to have a bike like that (or any bike) at age 7, let alone folks who were supportive.

What Long Ranger said. Best I could manage was the occasional ride on a friends tote goat.

A lot cooler than the box frame minibikes with the Briggs and Stratton engines we built when we were sub teens. Didnt get my first real motorcycle until I was 15 ( have made up for it though lol)
I bought my son ( their dad) his first motorcycle, a Z-50 Honda in 1984, when he was 5. The first year or so. I had to set a concrete block out in the yard so he could climb on the bike. If he got off of it anywhere in the yard for any reason, he had to push it back over to the concrete block to get back on. I think he rode it until he was 13 lol. He rode that little bike all over our little town

that's awesome ferret. back when my son was 6-7, the ttr50 wasn't even avail then.
yamaha only sold the ttr90, in kickstart only, or ttr90-e, elec start. 90s have the 14" dia fr wheel, 12" dia rr wheel. , so they sit about a couple inches higher in the seat than the ttr50.
But electric start on these new peewees are a game changer, imo. in general, not always byut kids that small just don't have the dexteritynor the leg stregth to kickstart a bike by themselves. that happy button's worth its weight in gold!
