@Ferret
Just read a very positive test report on the NC750X, new 2021 model coming to Europe, and the next day I see your byline, "NC750X coming soon". Have you described your purchase decision somewhere in a post ? If not, can you tell us more ? Will your bike have the DCT version ?
Don't worry, I will keep my CB like you will keep yours. Just curious !

About the same HP. The quarter horse will weigh more believe it or not lol
I actually enjoyed the 650 Yamahas, so much so I bought 3 of them. They did vibrate though... a lot! lol

J3gq.. not sure if I made an announcement or not, but my wife recently told me she thought she was through riding. If she is done, that means I'm done two up long distance touring, so I decided to go lighter and smaller for my workhorse bike. I traded my 2018 Yamaha FJR in on a 2021 Honda NC 750X DCT.
They did a ton of upgrades to the 2021 model to make it a a better street bike ( but a worse off road bike). Lowered the seat height 1.2", by shortening the suspension, upped the horsepower and torque, enlarged the " frunk", led lights all around, ride by wire throttle, more ride modes and programmable traction control, self cancelling turn signals, larger windshield, supposedly a more comfortable seat, new gauges, the taillight now senses a hard stop and flashes the brake light.
Should make a great daily rider for my local rides and share duties with the CB as a solo tourer. I don't know, we will see. I'm supposed to get it the first week of June when Honda releases them.

From what I see, the most recent test reports on the NC are very positive and enthusiastic. But you probably know this already ... I need a replacement for my scooter (which didn't survive the last winter's humidity), that's why your new sign line caught my attention. Will do a test ride on a 2020 model tomorrow. Good luck !

If you are tall enough a 2020 model might save you some jingle. I needed the lower seat height of the 2021.
It came down to another scooter ( I had a 400 Majesty a couple of years ago that I enjoyed a lot) or the DCT 750 Honda. As nobody makes a maxi scooter anymore, and I wanted more capability than a smaller cc scooter could provide, the NC 750 was an easy choice.
GO had an NC 750 before getting his Africa Twin, and redbirds currently has one

Ironically, I saw a magazine review of the 2018/19 NC that Ferret referenced and I was sold.

It's going pretty well. At a little over 700 miles I am getting used to it. Power I must say is merely adequate. It does everything I ask of it powerwise, but impress with its power..... if you get my drift. I rode the CB 1100 yesterday and thought "man, what a mc the NC 750 would be if it had this power and torque". I ride it just as fast as I ride the CB, and the FJR, there just isnt a lot of motor in reserve. After riding powerful bikes for the last 44 years, it is quite a change. At least I dont have to row the gearbox to keep it going, like I did the CB 500X I had in the garage for awhile, the DCT takes care of that for me.
Still, its filling its role of a daily rider while keeping miles off the CB, all the while delivering an honest 74 mpg. My wife absolutely refuses get try and get on the little back seat even for a ride around the block. She misses riding even if at the end there she could only ride about 30 miles before suffering (even on the FJR). She won't ride the CB with me either. We are pondering a solution.
Even though it's the reduced seat height version, it is still a little tall for me, but manageable. I'm enjoying the light weight and the slimness. I've acquired another windshield I'm going to cut down into a shorty, for a better air flow, and am adding a battery tender pigtail this Saturday when I do the first service. I'm not sure about following the Honda recommended service intervals of 8,000 mi for oil changes and 16,000 miles for oil filters lol. At my age, that might mean one or two set of filters in my lifetime lol.
I'm also looking around for some wider footpegs. The stock pegs are very slender and tapered. Something twice as wide and rectangular would be nice.

Yeah, the lower horsepower really shows when using Drive Mode. I found that all seems to go away when using Sport Mode and/or Manual Mode and fuel economy does not suffer significantly. In up and downhill twisty fun, Manual Mode is almost a must. Still very smooth and fast switching gears.
If you ever happen to carry a passenger on the NC, it will probably never happen that a poorly timed gear change will cause helmets to bash. The switching is that smooth at any engine speed. But if the human body can't take the rigor of the motorcycle anymore, then for sure that is a different issue and has to be respected.
Honda seems to be putting technology and/or getting very confident regarding engine maintenance. I have no problem with that. I could be wrong, but I think there are no cylinder sleeves in their modern mainstream twins.
