It all boils down to one number on the bottom of the page. Comparing anything else is a waste of time & meaningless. The dealer can cost code or cost center it however they want. Adding tax, title, & license to the mix across the internet is another waste of time & apples to oranges comparison. I would never...& have never...paid a bottom of the page number above the manufacturer's stated MSRP before tacking on all their "freight, setup, etc.". Usually its even well below that base MSRP number (excluding TTL which is meaningless since my TTL has nothing to do with someone else's TTL & there is nothing either of us can do about them).

These added dealer fees are like paying a “resort fee” at a cheap motel. It means you get access to the WiFi, pool, and morning newspaper, and it’s mandatory. Didn’t this stuff use to come with the room? I usually just walk out and go down the road to the next place.
(Or worse, paying a fee to use the overhead compartment or check your bag on a flight).

The Honda Monkey (2022) has finally come to Canada. It took a long time.
But, it comes with an all new 124 cc engine, ABS and a 5-speed gearbox.
It is beautiful.

This could be my winter snowbike - hang it from the rafters. Oh wait, I have none.
That said, 10W30 semi-synth after a decent break-in.

I have to admit I love the idea of a Monkey, even a Grom, I just can't justify the money spent on something that I will never be able to use for anything, our roads are too fast, I wouldn't risk it.
Fun fact, I found out that some people were meddling with a CB300 motor swap into a Grom, and apparently it's a direct bolt-on swap (!!) Now that could be a totally different animal

The Monkey was definitely never designed for speed. It can barely sustain 60 mph. But the 2022 model can get 200 miles on a tank for about 178 mpg. This is ideal for hauling away on fun getaways and for urban travel. It also competes well with modern full electric bike offerings currently available.
With respect to the Grom, yeah, the Monkey's price is definitely taking advantage of its looks and appeal even though the drivetrain is the same as the Grom.
