Suzuki GSX-S1000GX - another fine four pot

This is a bike I would swap my GS for, just announced. Electronic "float control" suspension for the first time on a Suzuki but with plenty of rider input to adjust and modify. (unlike my GS). All the usual goodies plus a six axis controller which isn't on the GT variant released a couple of years ago.

Too bad about the cats on late model bikes these days. I am all for cleaner air, but design engineers have their work cut out.


Over here in gawd forsaken Brampton, Ontario, Canada - leave this beastie chained up outside and expect to return seeing no cat. For many riders, ultimately that would not be a problem, unless your regional ministry of transportation expects to see it there.

Suzuki did one of the best implementations trying to hide it.

Ah ok, so it's just a lanky-legged version of the sport touring bike they came out with a couple years back. great use of that K5 motor.

Hmm, you just gave me an idea. Maybe I could offer a service to riders who don't like looking at the cat below their bike. Leave it overnight outside my shop. Come back the next morning with a length of stainless pipe and clamp it in where the cat was located the day before.

Yes, great use of that motor, it's a trooper. But it is more than just a lanky GSX-S1000GT (where do they get this many characters from?) The electronic suspension is a first for them and they have chosen a superb implementation.

Not a first for other manufacturers of course but the rear preload alone is well thought out with full auto implementation, which you can still tweak or you can choose one of three manual settings. In auto preload the rider weight and any pillion & luggage will also modify the damping on the front and rear shock to compensate for that weight. That's just the preload input, damping is pretty advanced too, way better than my 2023 GS.

Not so sure whether brand new or gently used but he sent me this pic
