If someone with a shop manual could look up the output it would be appreciated.
Just got off the phone with Honda and they say 11amp output from the alternator. That would be 132 watts which seems real low for any bike.
Thanks
More i think about it he had to be giving me the reserve, a 55 watt bulb would eat up almost half the output. I know the St1100 has 28amp alts and most guys put in 40amp upgrades.

At 5,000 rpm the alternator should put out enough power to be able to read greater than 15 volts at the battery. That's all the Shop Manual says on that subject.

Thanks M,
yes 14.6 volts is your 12volt charging sweet spot
I was hoping it would show amps or watts.

From the M.O.M. it says for specifications.
Generator output: .336 KW/5,000 rpm. Does that help.

It's 336 watts. That's 28 amps@12V. Either info or calculations are in error.
You should probably use 14.6v for your calculation which yields 23 amps. Take out the 7-8 amps operating current and that still leaves plenty of amps for accessories.

Meowguy,
Shop Manual page 1-8 lists the specs. Says 0.336KW at 5000RPM

Oddly I found that in the owners manual. I never thought to check the Specs in the shop manual.
