Who has adjusted their chain?
#21
Are you guys adjusting your chains on the center or side stand? I can't remember off the top of my head what the manual states.

Manual says centerstand.

First adjustment at about 700 miles. At 1700 miles i adjusted it again but it was still within spec but i get a smoother ride with one inch of plat. As it streaches i get a jerky throttle response

Thanks. Can't wait to get back on the saddle. Hopefully by early next week.

I used a digital vernier to measure the distance on each adjuster. The scribe marks on the sides just did not do it for me.

I may be a little overdue for this..
What size is the axle nut? I don't know if I have a socket for it.

The manual says "special tools" are needed for this, but I don't see it needing anything other than wrenches? Unless you count a torque wrench to get the axle nut torqued to spec.

EDIT -- nevermind on the axle nut. I see TheFerret's thread has me covered on that!
Will have to go to Harbor Freight or somewhere tomorrow to get that, I guess...

Isn't it in the tool kit under the seat?

Sadly, not on the US bikes, enzo.

I've never heard Honda skimping on a basic tool kit on a bike and I've had a dozen.

Congratulations, I guess? Ours all came with 2 things in them, there's at least a couple threads on this forum about it ([url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=418&highlight=tool+kit]like this thread). My Yamaha's tool kit came with just about everything you'd need to strip the bike down to the frame, although it'd certainly take you a while.

Added: I assume it was adjusted at the first service, but I didn't ask. I have however checked it a few times, and at 3700 miles it's still at 1". I thought I was going to put a lot more miles on the bike by this point, but no longer doing 100 mile roundtrips 3-5 times a week to visit my girlfriend has knocked my riding down a lot.
