So long as it's designed for use with a wet clutch, you're fine. If not...change the oil and filter asap.

I wouldn't worry about it. I run 5W-40 Rotella in mine and the Honda shop manual says it's OK to use 10W-40. Phew!!

A wet clutch is one that is bathed in oil. Your clutch and transmission share oil with the engine and thus the clutch is what is called wet. A dry clutch is just that....dry. It is not bathed in oil. What you are looking for on the container is JASO. That will indicate that it is designed for use with a wet clutch.

If your oil was changed at a bike shop, likely an oil was used that will work with a wet clutch. Automotive oils that contain friction modifiers (most 0W-20, 30 oils) will cause clutch slippage. I would not worry any more about it.

In the land Down Under most of us run 10W-40 all the time and it's just fine.

I've been using 10w 40 for my last two oil changes because it's readily available everywhere. I have 8k miles on bike now. It is absolutely fine. I live on long Island where we have all four seasons. Very hot summers and very cold winters, I ride almost all year long. I use the Castrol full synthetic.

I use 10W-30 because that's what Honda recommends and it's quite easy to get here.
