My 2017 RS is from Japan with ETC light on the meter. Recently the ETC light always blinks when riding the bike (odo now around 1,600km), not sure any problem. Previously, when ON the switch, the ETC light blinks a few seconds only and start the engine, the light always is on. Anybody helps advise? Thanks.

Ban, I recall looking this up once before. The ETC light is the Japanese Electronic Toll Collection system, isn't it? You probably have to talk to a dealer about having it disabled.

Yes, I guess it is for the toll. To disable it, just simply unplug the electric cable, right? There ETC box is put at the battery compartment.

I guess you could try that. I have no idea, though, whether it will disable it. Good luck.

Hi, i have a japanese unit also. I simply removed the unit and have no issues. Can i ask if your bike is speed or rev limited to 180kmh? I have yet to run my bike into those speeds.

Yesterday I found out that there is chip area in the ETC box (look like sim card slot of cell phone), I just used a small piece of paper to put on it and close the box lid. The ETC light is ok now.
I have not made a ride of 180km/h on my RS yet so I do not know however I heard from others that the Japanese unit is locked at 180km/h. Can we unlock it?

Why , for what you need more as 180 ? Are ev. the last 30 km/h so much important to have/get too ?
You have no speedlimit in your country ?
Is it nice to drive so fast on a nakedbike for longer time ?

So far as I know from extensive discussion about this in the past, the only way to remove or change the speed and rev limiters is by having the ECU refreshed and the only outfit we've heard of who do that is Don Guhl Motors in the US.

I plan on having my 2014 flashed. Everytime I win a race I think "I could have done better than that!".
