Before and after dyno runs would document the gain

I have asked this question myself a bunch of times. I love the pod look and would love to build a chop with that twin cam engine with pods. I was/am a member of the F forum and there are a number of F's that have been shown with pods. Everyone talks about being unable to get the pod set-up to run right with stock carbs on the 1100 engine. I asked the instructor(Bob Price) of the MC course at LA Trade Technical College about it. He said don't mess around simply put mikuni's on it cause those carbs are adjustable seven ways from Sunday. Any other info or opinions?

someone please post results because I too love the look. not looking for improved performance, just need to know it doesn't mess everything up to where the bike runs poorly.

The Constant Velocity carb needs a specific vacuum signal to operate properly and when the airbox is removed it drastically unbalances the carbs because different amounts or air reach each individual carb. The airbox balances out the incoming ait charge and allows the CV carb to function as designed. If you have a CV carb on a single cylinder engine, then removing the air box is a mute point, but when you have to have a balanced air charge the airbox become an almost absolute necessity to make sure everything is even and balanced. That's exactly right, Randy. Very good. All the bases have been covered here; just try it and see what happens. I can't imagine any performance gain would be possible, since pods are all about top end, and the CB1100 has no top end, the cams and ignition are tuned for midrange. You would, however, lose a ton of bottom end and midrange. Did not see a dyno chart. I did, however, comment on the practice of applying Automatic Transmission Fluid or any kind of "shine" to a tire. Don't do it.

I agree, there is no dyno chart. I just suggested reading the whole thread as they talked about the difficulties of installing them. Seems like a lot of members just read a few posts and miss out on good info.
The only thing I put on my tires is nothing. Or water when I wash the bike.

Pods should fair better on an EFI engine that on the old carb setups. I've always wanted to a do a set of 4 velocity stacks. I don't know if they would actually add any power, but the intake roar and looks would be awesome.
