I’ve got four potential projects, so dreaming about doing something to the CB1100 might be down the road a bit.

For the purists; please forgive me!

Imagine a GSXR750 front end and a CBR900RR swingarm? Throw in some minor bracing and maybe a ‘17 style tank w/red stripe.

What do you think?

I'm all for screwing around with things- but only with reasons why...

No need for a gixxer front end. If you want upside down forks and fancy brakes, the '17 RS setup exists. Already calibrated to work great.

Likewise the rear end- check out Samurider - there are aftermarket alu swingarms custom made- plug and play. Bracing, no bracing, your choice- either way- no mess, no hassles.

Yea- cost a lot, but will work out of the box. Unless you want a frankenbike for braggin rights at your local bar / parking lot.

I'm definitely not a purist, so this sounds like a great project to me! Maybe make it into a real-world version of the CB1100TR concept (pic below)... or a truly "sporty" RS?

Plenty of highly modified ZRXs out there too if you're looking for inspiration on taking a steel-cradle framed I-4 to the next level!

Samurider’s aluminum swingarms are nice, but I was leaning towards a monoshock.
You got me thinking thou... what about one of Samurider’s swingarms, modified for a monoshock design? Should would make the sprocket alignment and brake choice easy Smile
The GSXR front ends are in abundance, can be had for a decent price, and they’re set up for clip-ons. Only hitch would be adapting the controls.

The CB1100TR is very cool! Inspiring Idea

Ray, I think you're on to something. If anyone could do a standard race concept, or cafe racer or whatever you call it, and do it right - it'd be you. I'll be watching for the thread!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

More thoughts... always liked the dual exhaust on the DLX’s.
How about a dual “Yoshimura” look a like , 2-1 w/a crossover tube Smile
