Need tires.
#91
Since the demise of the PR3, I had been planning on going to Bridgestone BT45s. I'd run these (3 sets) on the CB750, which has similar weight and configuration. I routinely got better than 10K miles from each set, which suited me just fine. They also came in stock sizes for both the CB11 and the CB750.

Looking ahead to spring, when the CB11 will be needing new rubber, I was sad to find that after 20+ years, Bridgestone is discontinuing the BT45 and replacing it with the BT46. The tread pattern is about the same, but they're using a new compound on the rear tire. The rear is available in the stock size for the CB11, but the front would have to be either 10mm narrower or about an inch larger in diameter (i.e. 100/90 or 110/90).
,
They say they're going to be producing a lot more size options in 2021, so I might just wait a few months in the hope that they decide to produce a 110/80 front tire. I've always thought the BT45s were comparable in performance and longevity to the PR3s. I think I'll probably take a chance on the BT46s and hope they didn't mess up a good thing. Tongue

One other aspect about tires, up for discussion.
It matters when (in the year) you change your tires, right ?

I like the OEM size tires, and will likely try the Z8 on the next set. My fresh Bridgestone BT-54R are broken in now and feel real good too. I'll see how they wear.

I put them on my bike. I was really loving them and then the covid hit me. I'm down and out right now, but soon as I'm free from this illness, I'll get back out there and put more miles on them. I'm also very happy with the way they look on the bike and when I'm well, I'll post some photos for you too.

Thanks Cormanus! I'm doing pretty well except for lingering cough. just enough to be really irritating. combine that with all the rain we're having, and It's just no fun!

Tomorrow morning would normally be the weekly breakfast and ride with all my buddies, but I'm opting out for their safety more than anything. That's the hardest part!
