Loose Instrument Panel / cluster
#1
I realize the instrument panel is made to flex / absorb vibration however, last week the panel seemed to vibrate at a whole new level. Does anyone have a pic or can easily describe how to tighten? Hopefully I don't have to remove the headlight....

This might help for now: https://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/a/hon...5a33/meter

I assume you have a '14. If not pick the year you need. I'd look at mine, but can't right now.

hmm, if it happens to look like this, I might know why.

Seriously, did you add any accessories or modifications recently? Windshields could cause some buffeting.

That is some serious fracturing.

I looked at my meters and they are rubber mounted too and move a fair amount. I have a Road Comet fairing installed so couldn’t see much. And I’m not taking it off to look. You might be able to see or tighten the mount fasteners without removing the headlight shell, but you will have to look.

You can see and get to the mounting bracket bolts at the triple tree from what I saw on my ‘13.

I saw this thread and thought mine seemed a little loose too, but I thought it was mounted to move like popgun said, until today. I found the bolt attaching one of the brackets to the bottom of the top triple clamp was gone. #@$&%! I would not have guessed that these would vibrate out. I ordered a replacement from Babbitts Honda Partshouse (I like their online schematics). They list it as a 6x12 flange bolt, part #95701-06012-07. There's no torque spec. in the shop manual so does anybody think blue loctite would be a problem if I used it? I hope I can replace it without taking the headlight assembly off, it looks like one can. Anyway, it might be a good idea to check yours just in case. And of course now I see popgun's link where the parts are much cheaper.....it's been that kind of evening.

Novice, a little blue Loctite wouldn’t hurt.

As far as torque. When the manual doesn’t specify a torque, you use the standard torque table in the torque listings. It shows torque values for fasteners by size of the fastener

Thanks man! Any chance you can get a photo or 2? And let us know if you ended up pulling the Headlight.

Bolt came today. No need to pull the headlight. I used a 10mm six point socket 1/4” drive and was able to get to it without a problem. Replaced bolt on right side and tightened the bolt on the left side. Now it’s just like new! The parts diagram shows it better than any picture I could take.
