wiring diagram cb1100
#1
For the ones interested in how the electricity flows through the switches and other parts of the bike i have made a highly simplified but accurate diagram with all the controls necessary to operate the engine.

The symbols may be a bit different from what we are used to but this was the euro-norm when i went to school.

From the battery the 12 volts passes through the ignition key switch, powers up all the 10A fuses including the "start" 10A fuse, the red engine stop switch, the engine stop relay coil ( ignition relay ) and then through the bank angle sensor ( which opens when the bike is not in an upright position )

If all these switches etc are closed the engine stop relay switch closes and powers up the Fuel Injection bus which feeds the essential parts like ignition, engine control unit, fuelpump relay etc. and then the fuel pump itself.Thumbs Up

The fuelpump then runs for 2 seconds before the e.c.u. shuts the pump relay off after the system is pressurized and maintains an on-demand cycle to maintain pressure.

The engine can then be started by pressing the start button which breaks the circuit to the headlight which then goes off and energizes the engine start relay and the starter motor.

on the right is the neutral switch which can be bypassed with the clutch switch if the engine needs to be started whilst in gear.
The sidestand switch does not prevent starting in or out of gear but stops the engine's ignition through the e.c.u. if the rider releases the clutch with the engine in gear and the sidestand down.Tongue

The numbers A-21 etc correspond with the pin number and abbreviation on the ecu.Huh

Here is the fusebox if that helps.

Hope this explains a bit of how things operate and in which order.
