:-) or get your CB1100 to Don, he'll put it on his Dyno, and tweak the ECU to best work with your bike.
That is what I did, hence the 2013 ECU flash people are getting from him is based on my 13' CB being on his Dyno.
I had my Staintune on for the Dyno work.

ECU reflash is also the only way to adjust timing, which can also enable more HP as changes to AFR are made.

I'm not sure I understand spending money on a custom tune when (provided you install a custom exhaust with the correct size O2 bung or have an exhaust shop weld one on) you could simply utilize the PCV's auto tune function...

The PC-V does not have an auto tune function. The Dynojet Auto Tune is yet another device that can be added in addition to the PC-V.

I've seen a member post a dyno run from an unmodified ECU bike running a full exhaust with A/F ratios near bang-on 13:1, and others will attest that their bikes run fine without additional mods. However, I think we can agree that an ECU reflash (the only method that allows timing advances) would allow you to maximize your new exhaust system.

Best of luck with your decision!

I read that thread with great interest (I'd be more than happy to be able to just slap on an aftermarket exhaust and not worry about changing or adjusting anything regarding the A/F ratios) and went back just now to see if I could find it. If I'm right, you're referring to CIP57's charts and the discussion the two of you had. If so, he wrote:

"Here is what you can expect with a flash and a stock PC5 map installed into your ECU running a full Yoshi. The A/F ratio is almost spot on, running a bit rich on top. The bike runs much cooler with the added fuel."

I read that to mean the numbers he put up were showing the ratios after a reflash and download of a PC-V map while running a full Yoshi. Where it gets confusing is that he writes "stock PC5 map" but then also rights that the "bike runs much cooler with the added fuel." It's unclear what he means by a stock PC5 map - I take that to mean it's one of the pre-programmed maps already available on the PC-V for a Honda CB1100 running a full Yoshi exhaust (which means it is changing the A/F ratio) and not a custom map he or Don developed on their own. This is consistent with his next statement about the effect the "added fuel" has on the temp.

CIP57, if you're reading this, maybe you can clarify.

Just back from vacation in NC and catching up on threads.

Your correct, the stock PC5 map which adds fuel as noted in the graph Hiker has posted in combination with the full Yoshi will give you a spot on A/F ratio. There is not much more to gain by a personal tune. I have sent my map with A/F to a local tuner in Danbury Ct, he felt it would be a waste of time and money for a personal tune.

Welcome back CIP57! Thanks for clarifying. In the near future there will be a map available from Dynojet based on my 2014 CB1100 with a Yoshimura RS-3 slip-on. I have confirmed my appointment to bring my bike to their research facility in Las Vegas this Thursday. It will be interesting to see the differences between the 2013 and the 2014, if any. Unfortunately, I don't have the stock muffler to run an apples to apples comparison.

Ah, I see. At $280, it's still cheaper than a custom tune and wouldn't need to be messed with if you continue to mod the bike in the future. To each their own.

Well, going against the little voice in the back of my head, I'm going to take the plunge and buy this exhaust now. I figured I can get the tuning all sorted out by the time some consistent riding weather presents itself. Big Grin
I guess I will find out soon enough just how much it costs to get the exhaust and the CB "on the same page".
This Nojima exhaust calls my name like a, well never mind. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talkin' about. Big Grin Biker Thumbs Up
