It's really quite easy once you learn the technique. I use the center stand whenever the bike is parked at home as it allows me to do a quick pre-ride check of tire pressure and inspection, chain slack and oil level.

Obviously you guys are too old to own this bike if you can't even check the oil in the provided window. Sheesh.
Thank god it doesn't have a kick start! We'd have tales of woe regarding blown knees, locked artificial joints and requests to Samurider for chin guards.I'm surprised you aren't complaining that Honda doesn't offer corrective lenses so you can properly see the oil, on the off chance that during a drinking match you fell, and while you decided to stay down until you sobered up enough to get back up, to fight boredom you inspected the oil window and maybe played tetris with the window wiper. ![]() Instead of all the hand wringing, maybe a visit to Edmund Scientific to score on a optical prism to glue on the sight glass so you can see the oil from above. Little brass rim to fasten it, perhaps some gears to turn the wiper - make real steam punk. ![]() On a serious note, I'd prefer the window to a dip stick. Sticks have to pulled out, cleaned, reinserted and inspected; all the while you wonder: Do I just push it in and check the level or do I have to screw the darn think all the way in then back out to get the accurate reading? The window tells you straight away, no rag, no oil drips, no crawling around pretending you dropped a contact as you try to figure out how to get upright again.

Someone with "young" eyes tell me if I have oil, no oil, at proper level?

You can't see it as there is oil to the top of the glass, just all oil. It's overfill.
Measurement method: - put in on center stand - let it run idle for 3-5 minutes - wait 2-3 minutes - look at the oil site glass. Do it every time the same to have comparable measurements.

Thanks, Django...
I took the photo with the bike on the center stand and completely cold. So perhaps that maybe gave an inaccurate "reading". Oh, and I had twisted the little wiper thing around and around about 4 times... maybe that distorted what was shown... My "Duh".

Mine usually fills the glass when checked after the bike has been sitting overnight. When I use the recommended procedure (run the bike, wait a few minutes, check the glass) then it shows just below the upper line.

Thanks, Flynrider... will try that next go round.
