I think I met the world's only living brain donor.

I feel for you and know how you feel. I was stopped at a red light on a single lane road and when the light turned green a car blew by me on the right shoulder at a high speed suprising me enough to make me jump. I was pissed. The adrenaline kicked in and off i went. Followed him untill he stopped down the road at a diner. I thought to my self this is the big rush, to get to a diner? If it was a hospital maybe i would have understood. I gave him a piece of mind but he said nothing and just walked in. It took 30 min for my blood pressure to go back down. Another jack as& in a car while i was driving my car started passing everyone on the shoulder then cutting into the lane then going on the opposite side and passing and cutting off people from the on comming lane pissed me off so much i ended up boxing him in between a parked can and mine so he couldnt go anywhere. I thought about what was going on and let it go and just proceeded on. I delayed him enough to my satisfaction and annoyed him enough so i felt better but still have to be careful not to over do it. Once you cross that point and go to far you cant take it back.

You acted prudently in not escalating the altercation. If that had happened to me 10 years ago, I probably would have dusted off my black belt on that punk, but now I know better. It's just not worth it.

Whereabouts in L.A. are you? I live near Alhambra.

I've been in Highland Park for the last several years. Before that, in the K-Town- Hancock Park area.

Even though it's going through a revitalization, Highland Park seems to have a higher than average percentage of morons.....of the knuckle dragging variety. I've met golden retrievers with more discipline than some of the idiot drivers in LA.

LARIDER, I too have had similar experience around the LA area. Not fun, just gotta keep your cool. Several months ago some lady in a Prius missed her left turn (while she was on the very right lane), decided to stop her car and make a spontaneous left (perpendicular to traffic, crossing 2 lanes), I emergency braked, bike almost tipped over and I injured my wrist the same way you did while trying to keep my bike up and not drop it. I didn't bother honking or yelling, she just drove off and had absolutely no clue what just happened.

Regarding your wrist, it sounds very similar to what I went through, which means you sprained it pretty badly. I would suggest icing it down every night (20 minute intervals) and take some NSAID pain killers like ALEVE which helps with inflammation and pain. It took about 3+ months for my wrist to heal, so it will take some time.

The only way it'll heal is if you stop using it. Easier said than done, I know. Keep it wrapped for a couple of weeks with an ACE bandage and even when it feels better, use a wrist wrap support.

I agree with ClassicVW, try to use your injured wrist as little as possible. I remember having to stop using my left wrist if at all possible. If it's as bad as my injury, it will take more than a few weeks for sure. At one point I thought I would just live with this pain for the rest of my life, as it was not getting better even after a month. For me personally, it was the icing that helped the most (to my surprise).

The police, in their opinion, have way more important things to deal with than some idiot on a motorcycle that almost caused an accident with an idiotic driving maneuver. This is the reality I have come to understand about California policing as most departments are DRASTICALLY understaffed and underfunded so their focus seems to be on the most violent crimes, and that's about it.
I couldn't even get satisfaction with my hit and run case. I REALLY wish someone would have gotten the plate number because I want EVERYTHING that idiot owns or will own for leaving me for dead on the side of the freeway......but I digress.

It has been my experience that folks who drive away from accidents generally have no insurance and don't own anything of any worth.

True, but you never know. I'd take whatever the dude had...I don't care at this point. For all he knows I died there, he has no way of knowing.
Garnish his wages for the rest of his life would work for me....50% of everything he makes before tax would work. I'm not greedy, just mad.

Thanks for the info & advice. The wrist is already starting to feel better, so I'm guessing it's a mild sprain. I've used Aleve for years, it's a wonder drug.

I'm not taking any chances though. I work with my hands for a living and I can't risk doing any damage so I'm taking it easy.

I've been through this kind of thing before. A van pulled a left hand turn in front of me 10 years ago and my left hand was crushed between the handlebar of the bike and the wall of the van. My hand was useless for almost three months and I suffered permanent nerve damage. After 6 months of physical rehab, I was able to stay in my career despite the damage, so I'm a pretty lucky guy.

He probably was afraid to stop on the hill on a heavy bike, would be my guess...

When you are young it is really difficult sometimes to use your brain instead of your muscle. Use this as a opportunity for learning. As a older motorcyclist I've learned through the years to be extremely wary of two women in the front seat of a vehicle. Extremely wary of aggressive automobile and pickup drivers. Extremely wary of any vehicle that has a very loud exhaust. Now with the advent of cell phones, extremely wary of drivers dropping their heads down constantly.

All those types scream danger to my health. They are almost always driven or ridden by unintelligent people. As a motorcyclist your responsibility is to always arrive at your destination unscathed.

Use your head at all times while riding or driving and you'll come out ahead. Anger almost always cause you problems. No need to risk your well being or money on stupid people.Thumbs Up

That's certainly a good possibility. Probably never bothered to learn those finer points that keep you out of trouble. Probably thinks he doesn't need to, to just run to the bar and back.
