Yes, you probably should have used different wording, because apparently I misunderstood your intent. Never heard anyone relate coolness with regards to unit sales bfore. I will say that Triumph is seemingly having more sales success with the Bonnie line than Honda is in the CB line, but without actual sales number we are only guessing. And for the record there were no new 2015 or 2016 models in the US but there were in other parts of the world. Despite seemingly being a poor seller, it is actually in it's eigth consecutive year of production.

The Thai may be perfectly wonderful people but I know from reading Triumph forums that the owners are not particularly pleased that the new bikes are not being made in Britain, but that is not exclusive to Triumph. Motorcycle enthusiasts are not particularly glad that their bikes are being built in non native countries universally, whether its Triumph, Honda, KTM, BMW or whoever. Triumph customers want their bikes built in Britain, BMW enthusiasts want theirs built in Germany, KTM in Austria and the big 4 customer wants his bike built by the Japanese. This may change if the bikes prove themselves worthy of the brands they represent, but I imagine acceptance is not going to instant or universal.

Clearly, neither the Big Four, BMW AG, Triumph Motorcycles Ltd., or many other firms are concerned about where their products are made, only that they are made to a high standard of quality. Many of the Big Four have multiple models manufactured in Thailand; BMW is now having its new G310R made in India. Triumph have been making the Bonneville in Thailand for ten years.

I personally believe -- and I just put my money where my mouth is -- that Thai-made Triumphs are equal to, and superior in some ways, to the two German and three Japanese motorcycles that now encumber my garage and storage area. I don't care where it's made, I just care that it's good.

Oh boy, that's harsh! And true. I'm going to be taking a gigantic bath if I do sell '13 Standard, I paid full pop. But we'll see. Don't really have to sell it. Only problem with that bike is it reminds of this forum every time I look at it, which raises my blood pressure. Somebody said I should join the Triumph forum, no way. I got that bike to lower my blood pressure and so far it's working.

This forum is the least blood pressure raising one I've ever been part of. It reflects the bike and it's owners, for the most part, Hale fellows, well met. The Speed Triple and ZRX forums are like Lord of the Flies.

Everyone likes to feel like they are getting good value when making a purchase. Good value means different things to different people. Sure, price is a part of it, but there are a lot of other factors as well. Some guys churn through bikes like batteries in an Best Buy store. Other guys tend to hang on to their major purchases (I still consider a motorcycle to be a major purchase) for long periods of time. I think Honda might have had folks that fall into the second group in mind when they finally decided to produce the CB1100. I'm guessing that's still the case. I have no idea what the MSRP will be for the 2017 model, but I'll predict that once again, the CB1100 will seem overpriced to most people. For those who the bike truly appeals to and who will likely be hanging on to it for a good long while the MSRP won't be quite as much of a concern, nor will the resale values for that matter.

I think the Bonneville looks appropriately retro, but it somehow looks less refined and seems like less bike when you put it next to the CB1100EX.

I am looking forward to seeing the 2017 range, especially the RS. I really don't know if I would be tempted to let my 2014EX go, unlikely but never say never. My local dealer always stocks a good range of Hondas so here's hoping they get some in as it'll be good just to see them in the flesh.

This has got to be the most relaxed forum I've known. Thing is, most forum participants are passionate about whatever the forum topic, so there's always going to be a little banter etc. So here it seems it's a Honda/Triumph discussion, I love both and if only I could afford a new Thruxton along side the CB
I loved the 2010 Bonnie I owned, but the CB was a step up in all respects, in my view.
