Awhile back I ordered a set of set-back/risers that look like the Voigt, but were a generic brand on Amazon. I returned them because, when tightened down there was a gap between top and bottom. They were very nicely made and looked good otherwise. Very small gap, but it worried me. Is that gap anything to be concerned about?

Possibly not. Some designs have a gap at the front and rear and some have no gap at the front and an open gap at the rear as in my example shown here. As long as you follow given torque settings for your type all should be well.
