You won't be able to rev over 5,000 and the check engine light will be on, but otherwise the bike should run fine. I tried it and it and the bike will idle at 1050 and run as it should. It is the "limp home" mode, but at least it is not the runaway fast idle.
Thanks Nacho. Since the rpm drops down to 1krpm when releasing the clutch right before forward engagement I haven't felt as though its trying to run away from me or that it is unsafe to operate (yet?). I am sure that my fuel economy is taking a hit, but its more just an annoyance, every stop light its running at 1500rpm and I feel it should be at its normal 1050rpm or so. Just to verify though. The TPS would be the black module on the left side of the throttle bodies (exposed to view) and one could unplug it there and be fine?
I'm also assuming that I'm not going to potentially damage anything by continuing to ride the bike in its current condition. I have not seen any evidence of overheating and I'm sure the engine doesn't mind idling at those speeds.
