To inflate the tire i use a 5 liter weed sprayer with a clear plastic hose which fits over the valve.
Block the hose, build up the pressure make sure the tire is seated on the rim and take the vise grips off the hose, it inflated fine and popped both beads with just the weed sprayer

Hi Dave, good question, i used to have a homemade refrigeration compressor but left it in the previous house.
Thought it may be an idea to someone who does not have an air compressor handy, here is how it fits together;



It just so happens that the clear plastic hose fits snugly into the weed sprayer and over the ( demo ) valve.
The visegrip stops the air going into the tire whilst the pressure is buildt up inside the weed sprayer by the normal means of using the handle, when the safety valve on the weed sprayer starts to hiss the vise grips are released and the air rushes into the new tire.
Also managed to set the bead by using the weed sprayer as it was quicker than using the foot pump.
