I spend most of my time on small, slow back roads, sometimes averaging 35 MPH on a 60 mile ride.
That is how I rode my 1100 with the exception of no windscreen and plenty of city commuting. The best I ever got was 42mpg... the worst was 36mpg...
But the shift points and staying below 4k is how I rode the 1100. I just didn't see why I wasn't getting better mileage. My new bike I am getting 53mpg so far on three fill ups and have close to 600 miles now in roughly 3 weeks... Same riding, okay two more long runs on the new bike versus one on the 1100.
Just spoke to a coworker with a ducati and he gets 40 miles per tank, yes that is tank. The tank holds 3 gallons and he only gets 40 miles out of a tank. I told him park that bike it isn't worth riding!
