High engine revs on start up

High engine revs on start up

I once accidentally twisted the throttle once when I started it up, and it jumped into life with what sounded like a mini explosion that made me jump too. Since then I turn on the key, pause for a few seconds, then touch the start button with one finger, not touching the throttle grip at all.
