I've only bought one bike brand-new--a 2000 ZRX1100 that I picked up as a leftover (and still have). The rest have all been one-owner, 2-4 years old, low mileage bikes, generally purchased out-of-season. If you're patient, there are always the guys who spend $18k on a new bike, put 2,500 miles on it over a couple of riding seasons (garaged and babied otherwise), and then need to sell for one reason or another. Love finding those deals, but man, it's gotta hurt to take an $8,000 hit on something you barely rode.
I let impatience get the better of me on the CB I just bought. I could probably have found a lower price if I'd waited for more people to find out about the 2014s and decide to trade....but I found a bike I liked, felt the price was fair, and just went with it. $7,750 (not including tax and tags) for a sub-1,000 mile '13.
