When worked at the HD dealership, extended warranties, road-hazard policies, credit-life policies, were all considered "found money," as in you were walking along and there it was, lying on the ground. Selling any or all of these add-ons was highly compensated; an F&I person more than doubled their cut of the deal if they sold one or two of these.
One more comment based on my direct, personal experience: the guys who write the HD policies put in some very slick exceptions that deleted some very common failures from the coverage. I don't have personal experience with Honda's extended warranty, but if you do buy one, I'd look very closely at the details. "Bumper to bumper coverage" is a nice slogan, but it doesn't mean squat when cuss breaks. Fer'instance: can you really prove you met all the warranty maintenance requirements?
