Update: I took the shocks into my local Honda dealer to have them remove the springs. They had them for a few days and called in a racetech employee. They could not figure out how to remove the spring. They suspect that this can't be done.
Has anyone tried this on the stock shock?

Barring that, Google either motorcycle suspension or custom suspension with your zipcode. Most metro areas have at least one shop that does bike suspension work. The shop in my area will take the springs off for a few bucks if you bring them in off the bike. And return them when you're ready.
