Hmm, many of these comments come from very experienced riders. Who we could hear from; true beginners. When we get down to brass tacks, these are heavy bikes and beginners don't need a heavy bike to learn on; no matter how well mannered (some riders can handle the weight, but on average, your typical learner has better things to do than cope with the weight).
The Stelvio is definitely no beginers bike. Tall, heavy, she is a beast! Especially with her tank filled up. I looked hard at the Stelvio (a buddy picked up a 2014 and every time I see it I'm seduced by her) but still decided that I just did not want to deal with the weight. Especially on a tall bike. My much lighter XR650L can be son of a gun to right, just because she is so tall. Oiy!
