Well, not to wax too technical here, but riding in the rain has at least one further advantage for air-cooled engines like ours. The wet droplets of water all over the engine fins, not to mention oil cooler and header pipes, will dissipate the engine heat more quickly and thereby keep things running cooler, especially if one is already traveling slower due to the wet road conditions in the first place...!
