CB - What does this mean?

I'm wondering, what does CB mean? Is there an abbreviation behind that?

CB ist quite old, many types of Honda since the 60s have been called CB ...

What is it:

City Bike?
Custom Bike?
Combustion Bike?

I've got the impression, just the models with inline 4-stroke engine are called CB

Could somebody please be so kind and enlighten me on that?
