LARIDER, I too have had similar experience around the LA area. Not fun, just gotta keep your cool. Several months ago some lady in a Prius missed her left turn (while she was on the very right lane), decided to stop her car and make a spontaneous left (perpendicular to traffic, crossing 2 lanes), I emergency braked, bike almost tipped over and I injured my wrist the same way you did while trying to keep my bike up and not drop it. I didn't bother honking or yelling, she just drove off and had absolutely no clue what just happened.
Regarding your wrist, it sounds very similar to what I went through, which means you sprained it pretty badly. I would suggest icing it down every night (20 minute intervals) and take some NSAID pain killers like ALEVE which helps with inflammation and pain. It took about 3+ months for my wrist to heal, so it will take some time.
