The V7 is an excellent bike and I'm sure it would have given you a lot of grins. It was on my short list too, but with my inseam, the CB1100 was a better fit. I already had a MG Griso so a little diversity in the fleet was something to go for too. 
The V7 (or the new V9) would make a great second bike if that is something you could do.
And if you had bought the V7, after checking out the CB1100 and posted on the Guzzi thread; I'd give you the same answer.
A lot of nice bikes out there, makes it hard to narrow it down.
