Belay that!
For real sailing fans, "The Mutiny of the Elsinore" is good read. London sailed from Baltimore around Cape Horn to San Francisco on the Dirigo, a four-masted barque built in 1894 and sunk by a German sub in 1917. One of the last of its kind. Voyage took about 7 months. He signed on as crew as a formality, was "on the wagon" and did a tremendous amount of writing during the interval.
