I'll never understand Honda parts pricing...

The tooling for those covers (both cast aluminum and injection molded plastic) are both expensive. The material cost is pennies while the tooling is $50,000 or more. The price of the part is determined more by how many parts you run at a time than what the material it is made out of.

My guess on those two covers is that Honda has a larger minimum order on the aluminum cover that brings the price down a little.
