No way in the world, standing on the rear brake, could I lock up my non ABS 13. Couldn't even bring the bike to a halt using the rear brake only. It was only effective at stopping the bike under 10 mph.
My 14 feels better than the 13 but I still don't think I could lock it up, maybe I will try today. Wait I can't ... the 14 has ABS. Duh! I will try some rear wheel stops from 40 or 30 and see what happens and report back.
(note: I always use my front brakes when stopping .... actually use BOTH brakes when stopping 100 % of the time) day before yesterday I came around a curve running 45 in a 45 zone, and a school bus coming from the opposite direction had stopped. 3 cars in my lane had stopped to let them unload per the law, i couldn't see the situation until I came around the curve, total surprise. I hit both brakes hard, I mean HARD HARD. Foot mashed, 4 fingers on lever squeezing toward grip. I didn't have a lot of room, this was emergency braking. If I had been on my ST, both wheels would have locked and been putting down a black stripe. The CB never locked up, and I never felt the ABS kick In. It just stopped quickly and without drama. I was amazed the ABS didn't kick in. Not even sure it works on my bike.
