The primary reason for someone who is just entering the world of two wheeled road transportation to get a simple, inexpensive beginner's motorcycle is not that he will be in danger of crashing otherwise. The reason is that riding a year or two on such bike is the only way to find out just what kind of bike he needs, after he develops riding skills and motorcycle use patterns. Selecting a bike before this process has taken place is restricting new rider's future development and options. The advice given by forum members shows primarily the preferences and prejudices of the advice givers; it might be interesting to read, but it is of little or no help to the new rider.
To paraphrase the old "if you have to ask what it costs...", I would say "if you have to ask which advanced bike to buy, it's not for you".
