I am finding it challenging to get shops to keep their commitments, and that is even when I provide extra time for the unexpected. If they say, "yeah, sure, no problem" - then something smells. Sure enough, they fall short of expectation, even if they committed.
Commitment almost seems to have little value these days. Setting up expectations that are not met is, well, [almost] life. However, not notifying the customer that they cannot meet the commitment and wish to reschedule also seem absent. So many times the customer will travel from afar (maybe taking a work day off) only to learn the committed work cannot be completed on that day. Garages sometimes wonder in discomfort why people call ahead so often before they arrive.
