In 2013 guys were weighing and dynoing their bikes and iirc the weight loss was like you said in the neigborhood of 4 pounds and the dynod performance gain was more in the neightborhood of 4 hp. Certainly not 7 or 8 hp that Staintune claimed, and that gain is in the very upper rpm range of the engine. Still that is some weight savings and some hp gain so it's a positive, particularly if you like the sound.
When my 2012 Triumph Bonneville was new, I had a couple incidents with cars moving into my lane, because they did not see/hear me. A 1/2" hole down the center of the stock mufflers resolved that.
With 1172 miles in 3 1/2 weeks, I have not experienced that issue with the CB's stock single muffler. There is a mod to that muffler to increase decibels, but the CB and the V7II may be the only recent bikes I have owned with factory exhausts.
Knowledge that the HP gain is upper Rs is of little benefit to me.
BTW, I overlooked one mod that I did the very day I brought it home:
1. Engine guards, factory
2. LED tail/brake light
3. Snorkel minor mod (see attachment)
4. Dart Marlin flyscreen
Would not label the Givi tail bag on the rear seat a mod.
