Sorry to hear about that, Zippo. I had shingles right after getting chicken pox at age 3. Although it's been 53 years, I still vividly remember how miserable it was.
I had a couple of more mild cases about 10 yrs. ago when I was taking a medication that suppresses the immune system. Immuno-suppressent medications used to treat things like arthritis or psoriasis can depress your immune system just enough to allow the virus to become painfully active again. Anyone taking such medications should seriously consider the vaccine. This is not something you want to endure if you can avoid it. The virus attacks the nerves under your skin and the pain is constant and excrutiating.
