I've been exploring the top box world and found some really low cost alternatives online. Companies like Givi and Shad get a lot for these things. Another lesser known company in the U.S. called T-Motorsports - with ties to a Chinese manufacturer - has much low cost products such as this one. It includes a universal mounting kit and a backrest pad (hidden on the back side). The quality is truly superb for the price ($35 shipped) and would integrate very well with an all black standard model CB1100 with a rear luggage rack. You would need to add the latter such as the one shown above made by Givi in my previous post. Then you can have the best of all worlds: rack with grab rail, plus top box with back rest. This one is not a supersize spacious trunk case by any means. In fact, it is rather compact (which I like), but adequate to hold one full face helmet and/or other miscellaneous stuff.
