Well, I know the factory seat pretty well, because I bungee my iPad to it every day to and from work. It fits perfectly lengthwise on the back part of the seat just behind that strap.
But even so, you're not alone on being tricked by the factory seat details. When I saw the CB on display at the motorcycle show this fall, I noticed the '13 model on display had a bit of vinyl piping that ran from the top of one rear shock, up and back around the tail of the seat and then forward on down to the top of the other rear shock. Oh, maybe a slightly different seat? Nope. A quick look at mine after the show and that subtle sucker has been there all along. I just didn't notice it.
