An armored mesh jack won't do the trick?

I does, and I have one. I think I may have unachievable expectations of how one must feel while sitting on the bike, in traffic, wearing a mesh jacket.

Maybe I should also add that I wouldn't want to spend more than $300 on a mesh jacket.
