Low - midrange torque -- not as fun?

I sold my CB1100 so I can't repeat my experience but it seemed that 2500 rpm or 3000 rpm was the sweet spot for that bike. At 4000 rpm it was loud and "busy" in a way I can't describe. I think many others have commented that the bike is most comfortable around 3000 -- there must be some reason why.

But yeah, I'm confused. I lack the experience of many bikes to know why I liked the 750 so much.
