Funny how 55-60 years ago, it was the fledgling Japanese manufacturers who were trying to get a foothold in the U.S. market by exporting simple, inexpensive, low-displacement motorbikes. "You meet the nicest people." The quality of those "tinny Jap bikes" was questioned and scorned in the U.S. Of course, the rest is history. I wonder if we now unfairly consider inexpensive Thai, Chinese, and India-built bikes the same way. Isn't Royal Enfield the largest motorcycle producer in the world, thanks mostly to the number of bikes it sells in its home market?
