Honda is like any other company these days, trying to remain viable in a time when sales are slumping, young people dont seem interested in buying motorcycles, and restrictions are getting more stringent. Honda has a board of directors, I assume, that makes sure things are being done for the long term health of the company so they will be around to provide products in the future.
The world is changing quickly (too quickly for this old man) and Honda has to plan to be a part of it. With many countries talking about outlawing ice vehicles in the next decade, would Honda be better served looking and developing products for that time frame now, or to spend their time and resources developing products that will soon fall out of favor with the general public?
In the meantime we will see small motorcycles for the developing Asian marketplace, where they actually buy motorcycles in large quantities out of need, and incremental improvements, new paint schemes etc, for the stagnant North American market, but I doubt we will see many fire breathing Honda motorcycles introduced for North America.
This isnt the 70's 80's and 90's any more.
