I'd not heard of the Australian Shepherd breed before so I [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Shepherd]looked it up. Seems likely it was bred in the US. How about that?

Well googling Australian Shepherd it appears you are right lol.. American breed.

After looking at pics the dogs could have been border collies. The dogs were black with white chests. The pig was grey all over lol. Wish I had gotten a pic, but by the time we realized it was a pig until it got off the road into the weeds was about 3 or 4 seconds, and I was still using the clutch and brakes. Definitely an unusual sight!
