IMO; Brake squeal comes from pad vibration. I did not check the parts fiche, however, on automotive side, the OEM uses shims behind the pads to dampen the vibration thus reducing the noise.
Manufacturing brake pads is like baking cookies, the pads placed on the outer and inner tray are not heated evenly, so there are discrepancies from the same batch.
Some chamfer (angle) made at the leading edge of the pads materials may reduce the vibration. Some manufacturers have added the chamfer to alleviate the issue.
That's my 5 cents on brake squeal noise.
