I looked at all the engine guards and chose SW-MOTECH because they mounted at 4 locations for added strength. They are available in black or chrome directly from various Asian suppliers for $134.42 - $148.85 with free shipping on eBay. Just search for " Honda CB1100 Engine Guards " Rocket

I chose the same ones in black, and like you, found them easy to install, and they look great.
I looked at a few others, but always came back to SW.
I don't see how they could possibly touch the ground. If they do I think you're already heading for the weeds.
