I went so far as to cut a giant notch in mine to allow the c clip to pass through but the spring still got caught up. I had the thought of just going ahead and cutting the the thing in two pieces but I was afraid it wouldn't be strong enough.
Now I know exactly what to do to make it work! Which is a great thing because I dearly miss my center stand!
Thanks again

Hi Chris, my pleasure! I completely understand the frustration with this one.
Let me know how it turns out.

Rob,
Today is my day off and I've finally got time to tackle this project. Before I do would you mind letting me know how everything has held up so far? Also, what kind of paint did you use? It looks factory
Chris
Hey Chris,
So far so good, no problems at all. I used some enamel paint I had laying around. It is Rust-oleum Black Hi Temp BBQ Paint. Here is a link:

I didn't buy the hightemp specifically for this project but I'm sure it didn't hurt. We had a 80's looking fireplace in the living room and I bought this to paint out the gold/brass it had. I just brushed it on the exposed metal. I did three coats waiting till it wasn't tacky to the touch between coats. No matter what, the paint will be soft for a week or more till it cures. Just install it and it will harden, nothing is hitting it or the like. PM sent as well Good luck and let me know if I can help!
Cheers,
Rob
